This painting I started drawing out last summer - 2016. I had read the story in July/2016 of John Glenn's launch in February of 1962 and decided to paint his Freedom 7 capsule being launched into space by an Atlas Rocket. Off and on over 8 months I messed around with this painting and finally got it done. By happenstance John Glenn passed away this past December...
